Why I stopped reading the Hobbit

The book, The Hobbit, is said to be amazing and a great read that makes you want to continue reading throughout the whole night. Although it also has a 4.19 rating out of 5 on goodreads.com, I can't stand reading the book. Maybe I wasn't far enough into it because to me it was a total bore. I may have said it was a really good book but that's because I heard it was going to get better and I was a little biased from part 1 of the hobbit trilogy. I may continue reading some other time but not now.

Also I have a continuous flow of books from the library of books that my mom thinks I will find interesting. It pressured me to read The Hobbit quicker and made me realize it was something I didn't want to be doing. Now that I have gave reasons for discontinuing the read of The Hobbit, I am now reading a book called The Eye of Minds, by James Dashner. My summary of what this book is about will be in my next post. My question is, do you read a book before you go watch the movie?

  1. Jacab i really thought that you did a great job with this post explaning your reasoning very well. You gave lots of specific details on your decision. I usually try to read the book before the movie and it works out well because the book usually comes first.
